Designing with language

After graduating in Physics with honours at the University of Manchester in 2005, I worked in journalism and research, contributing to CNN, Dazed, Vice, the Nikkei, S&P Global and others, before getting into content design in 2014. I led content design for projects at BBC, Bulb, Cinch, Deliveroo, NHS, Co-op, GOV.UK and Barnardo’s — with a semester studying poetry at Goldsmiths — before moving into AI products in 2023.
While at BBC, I was part of the UX Design Task Force that created Content Credentials, one of Time magazine’s Best Inventions of 2024. Specifically, I worked on disclosure and provenance patterns for GenAI.
I’ve also written for the Guardian, the European Review of Books and Tolka, appeared on CNN Connect the World, and have been shortlisted for the Fitzcarraldo Essay Prize.
